Why do my ears keep popping?

My ears pop all the time and it gets really annoying as it can be quite painful at times, I usually just equalise (hold nose and blow) and it’s quite hard to get back to normal and can put me in some discomfort.

I go scuba diving quite a lot and am not sure if this has anything to do with it but they sometimes pop right after I get out of the shower but sometimes completly randomly.

Again, I’m not sure if this has anything to do with it but my jaw locks when I move it to the far right and always makes a "click" everytime I move my jaw but it isn’t painful. I only mention this because another method of equalising when scuba diving is "wobbling your jaw"

Any ideas on why it is happening and how I can try and fix it?

Thank you.
-Yeah I was thinking about asking my dentist about it next time I go.

not a doctor, but i would check if you have TMJ.A good dentist can
check it.

How do I get rid of this Tinnitus?

I have been suffering from an annoying ringing in both my ears for over a year. I can’t remember exactly how it started. I have it day and night and it makes me want to chop off my ears! I don’t notice it too much during the day when there are other noises to concentrate on. However, trying to sleep is becoming a problem. I can’t fall asleep without my fan on high. Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of my Tinnitus?!?!

I’m afraid that there is no cure-it-all medication for Tinnitus just as yet, with different drugs producing different effects for different people. Besides, tinnutus can be caused by a lot of factors such as ear wax, medications (particularly aspirin), aging and exposure to extremely loud noises. The first two causes can be resolved with the removal of ear wax and the discontinuance of medication respectively. Though for the remaining two, it would probably involve trial and error in the course of treatment. Nevertheless, consider using herbal remedies that have been formulated with Gingko Biloba (a popular treatment for tinnitus), Rosemary (a circulation tonic) and Avena Sativa (a nerve tonic). More on the herbal remedy for tinnitus below:

basilar migraine and tinnitus?

Hi, I am suffering with tinnitus, while searching the internet I found that this could be due to basilar migraine which I experienced from last few days. I want to know if you guys can suggest any remedy for this or some yoga/exercise for basilar migraine. Please help. Do you guys think basilar migraine and tinnitus is related in some manner.

Yes.
Also have your doctor do blood work and test for low iron. Low iron causes tinnitus too.

Unable to diagnose – Please help!!?

My problem is present for the past 3 months and have not got any relief.
My first problem is that of dizziness and imbalance. I feel imbalance while walking though I have not had a fall.
I had a ear congestion due to sinus 2 months back and was treated for that. The ENT said that the imbalance was because of the congestion. The congestion was cleared and ears were ok. But I continued to have imbalance and sometimes felt dizzy.
One doctor then treated me for depression and gave me some herbal treatment and massages. The imbalance still continued.
In the mean time I used to feel like my nerves twitched (sometimes) and weakness and had mild tinnitus.
Then a neuro had given me clonazepam and Stemetil for 21 days & I improved wonderfully. But, when I left the medications, symptoms
seem to have come back (back to square 1?).
I have done CT and MRI of brain & spine & everything is normal. I have done all blood tests and Liver and kidney funtion test & everything is normal
Pl advise.

Dumb question but did you undergo more than one round of antibiotics to clear up the ear congestion, possible infection? If NOT then call your doctor and ask that they once again treat the ear infection.

They can not always see the infection if it is inside the inner ear and some may linger. Ear infections are typically hard to get rid of.

Then if the medications were a help and relieved your symptoms why will they not give them back to you.

Barring all other alternatives it may just be that you need to concentrate on something else and get rid of a false feeling that the condition is still present. You get to the point you feel you will never be any better.

GOOD LUCK I suffered an ear infection for over a year in misery before the doctors finally gave me an aggressive antibiotic regiment that did rid me of the condition.

Is there a cure for a type of hearing loss called tinnitus?

Two years ago, my friend suffered a mini stroke and lost his right ear of hearing. Otherwise, everything else seems to be fine. I wonder if an MRI procedure could pinpoint the area within the ear that is causing the hissing/tunnel sound.
I wonder if his ear can be brought back to normalcy.

No. Basically, hearing loss is irreversible. There are cochlear implants, but those aren’t a reversal of hearing loss, just an aid to improve hearing. tinnitus is actually common for many people. Most people get it, but extreme tinnitus is a constant problem and results in hearing loss. In those cases, the damage is generally not reversable. However, ringing in the ears goes away in most people if it isn’t serious.

Taking Diltiazem and my ear wont stop ringing!!!!?

have been taking 180 mg of diltiazem for a few weeks now to treat my heart palpitations, My one ear has not stopped ringing since 7pm last night, it plugs and rings its driving me nuts, any advice,, I dont even want to take it today.

tinnitus (ringing of the ears) is listed as occuring in 1% or less in Facts and Comparisons for Diltiazem,

Verapamil (another Calcium channel blocker) is not listed as having tinnitus as a side effect.

see the following web site from the fda regarding label information on one particular brand of diltiazem:

http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cder/drugsatfda/index.cfm?fuseaction=Search.Label_ApprovalHistory

most drugs that went generic do not have drug information at the fda listed, for the others see drugs@fda

WHAT DO U THINK OF MY STORY? comment please?

The leaves rustled as they blew around my feet. I was Thirteen years old. Peoples screams filled the church. "Why! Why did this happen?". I looked down, my school socks were muddy, my legs had Goosebumps and I was shivering from the cold. My hair was wet, my school uniform torn. Within an instance, my whole world seemed to stand still. The noise’s around me blurred and for a moment. The only thing I could hear was a cry, a long and fearful cry. My mothers body lay there, as i lent down and put my hand upon hers i felt she was holding something. I took it out of her clenched fist. It was some sort of ancient pendant, silver with an inscription on the back in gold.

The smell around me was something that I was unable to determine. It was a musty smell, almost like blood or rotting flesh. I could however, smell my mothers perfume, only slightly, but it felt stronger then ever because of my complete fixation on it. It made me feel uncomfortable, it made me want hide away from everything forever.

The wind roared as i put it around my neck and fastened the clasp. A tear rolled down my cheek. But only one. No more. I wrapped my arms around myself and shut my eyes. I imagined the heavens and angels and whispered "Please, give me her back." I could hear sirens now, they became louder and louder, the tune thudding against my ear drum. I ran. I tripped. I blacked out.

Three years on, I’m still getting counselling treatment for that night. The warm sun beat down on my skin through the window, the rays of warmth filled my body with heat. Today was the last day of counselling. The last day of questions of ‘how I felt’ or how I was ‘coping’. Finally after today I could be normal…well at least try.

I watched my counsellor Jeanette walk into the room, she was tall, scrawny with jet black hair. She wore big glasses and had a strong smell of peppermint. She sat down and put her glasses on the end of her nose, whilst flicking through some past reports of my sessions. There was the occasional sigh but apart from that the wait wasn’t too bad.

"Now Mia…I know what happened to you was traumatic…I can understand that. But your 16 now, you need to get along with life."

"I didn’t ask to come here did i? And I am getting on with life I‘ll have you know." She always tried to act like my mother. I was her pity victim, her gossip, her charity.

"Mia… You haven’t been to school since you were 13…maybe you should go back."

Oh here we go. Go back? Have everyone whispering ‘Oh look! there’s that girl Mia, she was the daughter of that famous woman who threw herself off a church’. Or the constant harassment of teachers saying ’if I need to talk I can’. All I wanted to do was forget about it, not open up old wounds. Please. Save me the aggregation.

"I don’t want to go back, my income and life is fine now." I play with my fingers and try to not make eye contact.

"Mia, its a Saturday job, and you live with your father. A saturday job is not nearly enough income to support yourse-"

"Myself?" I roll my eyes and sigh.

She slides me over an envelope. it’s a brownish colour with some sort tea stain on the back. I open it slowly, inside it there’s a school, a date and a time for me to attend. I felt her touch the back of my shoulder. "Its in England, no’ one will have heard of you over there, you should give it a try…for your fathers sake at least."

In my head i began to wonder why i ever had to go through what i did. After it happened, minutes after the police arrived to hide my mother from news reporters, my father arrived. I remember waking up to him calling my name. I began to think it was all a dream. I cried. He took me in his arms and whispered "Don’t be scared princess, daddy’s here." I looked up and said "Is she really gone?" My dad turns whilst the rain beats down harder upon us. "No sweetie, mummy just had to go help the angels."

As i get up and walk out the door, i turn around. She says softly "Mia, its a chance. A chance for a new start. A new life.

I smile back but i don’t say thank you and i don’t say goodbye. I stand up, turn around and walk out.
ITS ONLY THE FIRST CHAPTER THANKS for comments
AND im17 lol :)

Its really good! I myself am writing a book (i’m 12) and the age the mom died and the way you described her feelings are alike… but the chapters should be longer, really! mine are about 15 pages but you should put at least 5 pages or more! oh and one more thing… i suggest her age goes down! i mean a 13 year old won’t be that traumatized and a dad wouldn’t say that to a 13 year old! And asking "is she really gone?" i’m 12 and no way in hell would i say that! i would be sad and all but i know that angels and god and that story is true but i know what death is and all… so you her age should be around 7 or 8 !!

why is it after i wear ear plugs my tinnitus gets worse?

ok so i have tinnitus from ear infection and i never expose myself to loud noise without ear plugs
i have just got a new motorbike and noticed it is quite loud anyway the first day i went out and wore ear plugs my tinnitus got worse. it wore off after 2 days. then today i went out and didnt wear them suprise suprise no increase or anything. why do ear plugs do this to my ears? my moto wud be about 85 dbs of sound when revved.

When you wear ear plugs, you end up hearing tinnitus more clearly because there is less background noise. Your attention can latch onto that frequency when you are consciously trying to avoid some other sounds and you are able to hear the tinnitus clearer (like when wearing earplugs and riding a motorcycle). When you rode without earplugs, you were probably worrying a lot less about your ears and your attention didn’t focus on the sound as much. tinnitus rarely goes away and most people have a certain level of it which accumulates over time. Certain things like ear infections and metabolic disturbances can accelerate the "volume" of the tinnitus during the disease course.

Why are the majority of questions on Yahoo answers phrased wrong?

First of all. Open a new tab and click the answer icon. Read the questions and ask yourself if they are really questions at all…

I myself personally just can’t stand how people ask questions. There are the proper questions, stupid questions, random questions and questions that aren’t even a question like a command.

Have you ever noticed?

Here are a few examples.
1. Tips for playing by ear? -what does this even ask you?
2. explain why polar bears are rather rounded, fat animals? -This is more like a command trying to be mixed with a question.
3. i want to buy a new sinewave inverter (1400VA)? -he is asking you if HE wants to buy something
4. ????The Ku Klux Klan? -What the hell are you talking about questions.
5. I need the name of the song from this site?- We don’t even know if you need the name of the song from that site.
6.i have a book , small, hard cover, titled: The Holy Bible Abridged. Printed and Published in 1811? -We don’t know! only you know.
7. DO YOU THINK IM OVER REACTING? -First glance at question=yes all capital letters, you are over reacting.
8. Please Help………….!!??!!??!?!?!?! – the very desperate ones that i never bother to answer.

so you get my point? People should really format their questions.
I mean also another thing is that what people ask. Its always the same things and i really get tired of answering the same type of questions.

eg.
Does he/she like me?
Help please?
_________ or __________!??!
What should i do? -many same situations.
What should i wear/do/eat?
10 points! HELP!!!
and the most stupid questions ever like…
Why do people ask questions?
How do I blink?
How do I breathe?
Am I gay? etc…

so yes, I need your opinion and why people do these things…

(not trying to offend anyone in anyway).
Seems Raven got offended, probably because she actually does ask questions like the examples.

Firstly please remember that many of those who use Yahoo have English as a second language and therefore may struggle with grammar and spelling. Many users are also quite young and have plenty of time to learn. While I agree that many people post statements rather than questions this is a website not a University English Language exam. I believe those are some of the reasons that Questions are not always perfect. Finally those who take the higher ground should be extremely careful not to fall off.
New sentences start with a capital letter.
I myself personally, I am not sure about that.
I mean also another thing is that what people ask.
What exactly does that mean. have a good day and don’t take life too seriously.
