Hi, many deaf people get tinnitus. Myself included on some occassions. Again doctors orders are – to rest. No doctors or ear specialists I know are aware of the true causes for tinnitus or glue ear which I sometimes suffer from also. One of my friends gets tinnitus frequently – she rests each day in the afternoon & moved to the countryside. I think I remember her saying it helps to be in a healthy & peaceful environment – not too much pollution & not around too much noise. Not easy to live with I know but take it easy. Also try some meditation.

My heart breaks when I have to stand by and watch my daughter battling with ringing in her ears! The tinnitus isn’t the worst of it though, because she battles to fall asleep her overall health seems to be getting worse. It seems to me that because she is so tired and anxious, she can’t sleep for long and always seems to pick up every germ that is doing the rounds. Can this because of her tinnitus? Where can I get a tinnitus treatments for her.

Two years ago, my friend suffered a mini stroke and lost his right ear of hearing. Otherwise, everything else seems to be fine. I wonder if an MRI procedure could pinpoint the area within the ear that is causing the hissing/tunnel sound.
I wonder if his ear can be brought back to normalcy.

No. Basically, hearing loss is irreversible. There are cochlear implants, but those aren’t a reversal of hearing loss, just an aid to improve hearing. tinnitus is actually common for many people. Most people get it, but extreme tinnitus is a constant problem and results in hearing loss. In those cases, the damage is generally not reversable. However, ringing in the ears goes away in most people if it isn’t serious.

It is saddeneing because I have to stand by and witness my gran battling with the ringing noses in her ears! My son got tinnitus help. I know that your ENT will tell you to live tinnitus or that there is no chance of a cure but my son found this website http://www.t-gone.com that offered him much help in determining the cause of his tinnitus problem. Surely worth checking it out.

My mom has it and its really bothering her. She’s had it for 3 years.

There are no cures. It comes up for me in the fall/winter – I think because the air is drier. I sometimes get vertigo as well. What I do when I notice it is get busy with something that takes my mind off it.

I have done a lot of research on it. Because there is nothing they can actually see that causes it, and there is no hearing damage or impairment caused by it (hard to believe but true), there are no known successful treatments that are reliable.

Meditation and prayer help me deal with it when it comes up. Resisting it or dwelling on it only makes it worse.

i think i was told by my chiropractor to take vitamin b6 for this, he said i had fluid behind my ears…wahtever that meant, i took b6 and it did help.
