How could I just "live with it" when suffering from tinnitus?
Posted by Barb in Tinnitus Remedies on March 8, 2010
I’ve tried so many different remedies for tinnitus. Lately it’s gotten so immensely bad it interferes with my sleep and daily life. It’s hard to concentrate on anything. Am I just supposed to "live with it"? What other option do I have?!
I don’t know of much other than this. There is an ear devise that gives off a sound that is supposed to cancel out the tinnitus sound. You should speak to an audiologist about it, or to start, google tinnitus cancelling.
Can i use homeopathic remedies with western remedies?
Posted by Barb in Tinnitus Remedies on March 5, 2010
I have Eustachian Catarrh which causes me intense sharp itching deep in my ear, ear discharge, tinnitus and occasional deafness. I have been prescribed a nose steroid spray, an anti histimine and decongestants. I have been researching homeopathic remedies and found Kali-P is prescribed for this problem. My questions are, how do i take this remedy and can i take it alongside the decongestants and anti histimines, steroid spary etc?
Hi Polly, i couldnt email you directly, thanks for your interest. it is the colour of wax – yellowy, but runny and sometimes has a reddish tinge to it. i can feel it when i lie on one side sort of running down my ear canal! it is apparently leaking from my eustachian tubes. i have been taking the allergy pills and i dont seem to have as bad tinnitus anymore and it feels less full but it is still itchy and drives me mad. i want to itch with cotton buds but i try not to but sometimes i have to just itch it as otherwise i will go insane! any advice would be great!
Yes you can take Homeopathic remedies alongside your conventional drastic medicine. Just remember, Homeopathic remedies work the best when taken on an empty stomach so half an hour before meals is the best time to take thenm and you are supposed to take your conventional medicine on a full stomach or with your meals, Homeopathic remedies do not interfere with western medicine for more on Homeopathy you can check this site for for all the details :-
http://www.hpathy.com/diseases/ear-symptoms-treatment-cure.asp
And if you need to consult the Homeopathic Materia Medica to study the remedies in detail check this link :- http://homeoint.org/books/boericmm/index.htm
If you have any more questions about Homeopathy i will be happy to answer them.
Take care and God bless.
the cure for tinnitus?

im 14 years old and i suffer from tinnitus. i was up last night crying because i feel as if i cant take it any more i was thinking about the fact that its never going to get better and that i cant actually remember what silence sounds like
im really scared that its going to get worse. i want to achieve huge things in life but i feel so depressed about it, most of the time i can just forget about it but as soon as there is no noise i can hear it again. the white noise thing does not help at all because it is not a hissing i hear its a combination of a very high frequency noise sound a very low frequency sound. i don’t want any rubbish remedies that just make me feel worse about it. i was thinking about organising some kind of event that would catch the media’s attention and help raise awareness of the condition but i need someones help from the outside preferably an adult.
Jason,
Valium, Xanax and Klonopin are benzodiazepine drugs that many doctors prescribe for tinnitus. These are conventional medications which achieve only limited success in tinnitus relief, and usually their bothersome side effects such as dry mouth, blurred vision, and constipation often discourage use.
They are addicting to varying degrees and cannot be used continuously for a long period of time. They are helpful in reducing tinnitus symptoms and aid in sleeping. Valium is the most addicting of these and is not used often for this reason.
Xanax is very popular and is prescribed often for tinnitus. However, the ATA (American Tinnitus Association) report on medications that cause tinnitus lists Xanax as causing it in 6.6% of cases.
There is actually no cure for tinnitus with the conventional medicine. Actually, since last many years, the onus has been on the herbal industry to provide relief, if any, to tinnitus sufferers.
Tinnitus is usually due to damage to the microscopic ends of the hearing nerve in the inner ear. Perfect hearing is possible only if these nerves remain healthy and any damage to these nerves result in tinnitus or hearing impairment.
Some herbal remedies exist which can be used to support all body systems involved in helping the ear to perform its tasks of clear hearing and balance, as well as the circulatory, cardiovascular, and nervous systems.
Some of the most common herbs & biochemic tissue salts used are
• Ginkgo Biloba is excellent for a number of cerebral and circulatory disorders. It is probably the most widely-used herb for tinnitus and many sufferers swear by this natural ingredient.
• Rosemary dilates and strengthens blood vessels and is an excellent circulation tonic. Rosemary is particularly useful for tinnitus that is caused or worsened by high blood pressure and other circulatory conditions.
• Avena Sativa is effective in reducing high cholesterol levels which can contribute to circulatory problems which cause tinnitus.
• Wild Hyssop s also useful in reducing pain and inflammation.
• Salicylic Ac. (30C) is indicated for tinnitus with loud roaring or ringing sounds, which may be accompanied by deafness or vertigo. This remedy is particularly useful in people whose symptoms began with a bout of flu, Meniere’s disease or long-term use of aspirin.
• Ferrum phosphoricum (Ferrum phos. D6) is a homeopathic biochemic tissue salt which supports the absorption of iron in the body. The protective myelin sheath which surrounds all nerve tissue needs iron to supply this vital nutrient to the nerve cells it encases. Regular use of Ferrum phos. can help to prevent dizziness, headaches and restlessness and is of great benefit for those who tend to feel irritable, tense and tired.
• Magnesium phosphate (Mag. phos. D6) well-known as a homeopathic painkiller, Mag. phos. is also of great benefit to the health of the nerves. It acts as a natural anti-spasmodic and a nerve and muscle relaxant and is also frequently recommended for stress headaches.
Hope all this helps
Good Luck!

Posted by Barb in Tinnitus Remedies on February 27, 2010
Hi, I am suffering with tinnitus, while searching the internet I found that this could be due to basilar migraine which I experienced from last few days. I want to know if you guys can suggest any remedy for this or some yoga/exercise for basilar migraine. Please help. Do you guys think basilar migraine and tinnitus is related in some manner.
Yes.
Also have your doctor do blood work and test for low iron. Low iron causes tinnitus too.

What remedies has anyone found for tinnitus?
Medical uses
The extract of the Ginkgo leaves contains flavonoid glycosides and ginkgolides and has been used pharmaceutically. It has many alleged properties, but is mainly used as memory enhancer and anti-vertigo agent. However, studies differ about its efficacy.
It is commonly added to energy drinks, but it is expensive, so the amount is typically so low it does not produce a noticeable effect, except for the placebo effect from being listed on the label. A study published in the August 21, 2002 issue of Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) suggests that there is no difference between the memory abilities of people taking ginkgo supplements and those taking a placebo.
Side effects
Ginkgo may have some undesirable effects, especially for individuals with blood circulation disorders and those taking anti-coagulants such as aspirin and warfarin, although recent studies have found that ginkgo has little or no effect on the anticoagulant properties or pharmacodynamics of warfarin[1][2]. It should also not be used by people who are taking the anti-depressant drugs known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) or by pregnant women.
Ginkgo side effects and cautions include increased risk of bleeding, gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, and restlessness. Ginkgo should also not be used by pregnant women or people with a blood clotting disorder.
If any side effects are experienced the dosage should be lowered immediately. Ginkgo supplements are usually taken in the range of 40-200 mg per day. If the side effects continue usage should be stopped completely.
Tinnitus:
Treatment
Some types of tinnitus can be treated while others are permanent. In general, there are no cures specific to tinnitus, but if it is caused by a physical condition that can be treated, the tinnitus may also resolve. Chronic tinnitus can be quite stressful psychologically as it distracts the affected individual from mental tasks and interferes with sleep, particularly when there is no external sound. The affected individual may have to generate artificial noise that masks the tinnitus sound. A combination of external masking and psychological counseling known as tinnitus retraining therapy is widely practiced. While it does not actually cure the tinnitus, many report that it becomes much less disturbing and easier to ignore.
Does anyone have a remedy for Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)?
Posted by Barb in Tinnitus Remedies on February 18, 2010
Depends how you got the condition (rock concerts, work conditions). I have this condition and have gotten use to it. I have had many tests, hearing, MRI of my head, neurological exam, ear, nose and throat md exam. They could find nothing wrong with me that was related to tinnitus, so they had nothing to treat, it is annoying but I learned to live with it. You need to start with your doctor. Good luck!

Yes, Ginkgo Biloba, I take two 30mg capsules a day, one in the morning and one at night. I had ringing in my ears so bad that I couldn’t sleep. Then about 2 weeks after taking Ginkgo Biloba the ringing started to gradually go away.
How do you get rid of TINNITUS before you go crazy???????
Posted by Barb in Tinnitus Remedies on February 5, 2010
I’ve tried oils, medication, white noise therapy, natural remedies and nothing works!! I’ve seen specialists, they all say to get used to it because there is nothing to do!!! If someone out there had it and got rid of it, could you please tell me what I can do to stop the ringing before I go crazy!!!!
Sadly, there is nothing you can do or take to get rid of it, just to ease it. My husband has it and was told the same thing and he deals with it but has problems too. Until he got it, I had no idea it even existed. I feel for you. I hope someone out there has and idea for easing it. If they do, please let me know so I can help my husband. Good luck.
